Enqueuing jquery file in wordpress
I cannot get my jquery or javascript to load in wordpress. Ive been searching google for ages and there are so many instructions so i must be doing something wrong.
Im trying to make a toggle text on a page so when i click the button, the text (<p>
) opens and closes. I have a jquery file which i uploaded via ftp to /wp-content/themes/jevelin-child/js/1234.js
My jQuery:
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#c1234").click(function () {
$("#1234").toggle()
});
});
html:
<button id="c1234">Show/Hide div</button>
<p id="1234">Hi</p>
functions.php enqueue:
wp_enqueue_script( 'script', get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . '/js/1234.js' );
i can not after trying at least 20 times and different attempts get the jquery to work!
Do i need to include a jquery library? I think wordpress has its own library so i wouldnt need to.
