How can you edit an .adat file?

I have an .adat file that I would like to edit but don't know how to. I've looked around the Internet for a bit but couldn't find anything, I'm looking for an editor or something else that can do the job. It's not a recording (I found that .adat is or was used for recordings) but a save-file. Already tried it with notepad++ and stuff but those can't edit .adat files. If you happen to anything about ADAt files in general please let me know. Thx.
