Storing and sending cookies from an external API inside another API

0

I am working on an API that first must call another external API for some needed data using node.js. However the external API I am calling uses requires that you perform a login POST request that generates a cookie. In this API's documentation they demostrate this call and all other sample calls using WGET. See below:

wget --cookies=on --no-check-certificate --keep-session-cookies --save-cookies=cookie.txt --post-data 'username=USERNAME&password=PASSWORD' {{URL_END_POINT}} -O ./res.txt

Since my API is kind of behaving like a client when consuming the external API, I know that I will need to use a third party library to simulate the behavior of cookies outside the browser. I have looked into cookie.js, tough-cookie.js but these appear to be more intended for creating cookies to put into a users browser than to save cookies from connecting to endpoint. Any ideas on the following:

  1. How do I properly store generated the cookie outside the browser? What some of the best packages for doing this?

  2. Where do these cookies need to get stored? Should I use the my db? example code on how to do this would be great.

Any ideas on how to do this is much appreciated.
