Serving protected resources from Akamai CDN

Ours is a content sharing platform.

The public resources can be enabled through Akamai CDN but now we want to enable CDN delivery for our private resources too.

Our application is hosted on one of the major cloud providers . We use the authentication services of that cloud provider.

What i could think of is

  1. user authenticates with the Cloud provider first through our application.

  2. Then the request has to redirected to CDN . Here a trust has to be established between Cloud provider and the CDN .

  3. End users fetches the content from CDN if he is authenticated and the user authentication is propagated to the CDN.

Is it possible to serve the private content in this scenario ? What kind of authentication mechanisms are supported by Akamai CDN ?

Best Regards,
Saurav
