How to access a server within Citrix?

As a contract developer i often need access to my clients networks via VPN, for creating my apps.
This time around, the client is using Citrix, and i need, on my local development setup, to have access to a server on the client network (an API endpoint).
But i am not sure how i do this - on Cisco it just works, as i can access all local resources on the network, once connected to the network.
But with Citrix, it seems everything needs to be routed through Citrix own protocol, as, once connected, i cannot ping a local server on the client network, nor can i access it from my standard RDP manager - i have to use the one provided by the Citrix app.
So my question is, how can i setup my local developer machine, so every call to IP 1.2.3.4, goes via Citrix?
Hope it makes sence :)
