How to display inline image in html2image?

I am attempting, and failing, to use Html2Image to display an inline image in an image that has been generated from HTML.
Here is the HTML with the inline image:
<b>HIIII LARGE</b><br>
<img src="data:image/png;base64, uohpiuguigiuguugyfy..." alt="test"/>
I am converting it into a PNG using:
HtmlImageGenerator imageGenerator = new HtmlImageGenerator();
imageGenerator.loadHtml(getTemplate("char", size, model));
imageGenerator.saveAsImage("temp.png");
imageGenerator.saveAsHtmlWithMap("hello-world.html", "hello-world.png");
BufferedImage image = imageGenerator.getBufferedImage();
ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
ImageIO.write(image, "png", baos);
baos.flush();
final byte imageInByte = baos.toByteArray();
baos.close();
return imageInByte;
But the embed image does not display in the generated PNG:
What am I doing wrong here? How do I get the embedded image to display?

HtmlImageGeneratorseems to use aJEditorPanefor rendering the HTML. Swing HTML support does not extend to the ability to render data images. It might be possible by digging into theHTMLEditorKitand changing the image loading element to support data images, but then you'd need to find a way to getHtmlImageGeneratorto use the altered editor pane.
