I am trying to figure out the best way to detect ECS task run failures.

I have a task defined in ECS and it is executed on demand using the javascript SDK. So there are two types of failures I am looking for here:

  1. ECS runTask startup failed.

  2. The code run in the task failed.

The first one seems easy, like I can just use a waitFor looking for taskStopped and handle it that way. I guess this is the same thing I am looking for for the second case also. I will just have to make sure the task reports an error properly so ECS can know it failed. How is that usually done using nodejs?

So my question is do you think this is a good approach to handle detecting ECS task failures? Also how to properly report failures so that ECS see's the task as failed.
