is it possible to use generic as POCO for Entity Framework?
is it possible to use generic as POCO for Entity Framework?
public class TypeOf<T>
{
[Key]
public string Type
{
get
{
return GetType().ToString();
}
}
[Key]
public string Key { get; set; }
public string Value { get; set; }
}
public class TestContext : DbContext
{
public TestContext() : base("name=Model1")
{
Database.SetInitializer<TestContext>(null);
}
public virtual DbSet<TypeOf<string>> TestType { get; set; }
}
Each time I do a Add-Migration
command I get an error
The type 'WebApplication2.Models.TypeOf`1[System.String]' was not
mapped. Check that the type has not been explicitly excluded by using
the Ignore method or NotMappedAttribute data annotation. Verify that
the type was defined as a class, is not primitive or generic, and does
not inherit from EntityObject.
So I guess this is not possible to use generic as POCO for Entity Framework. Maybe there is another solution.

You could try mapping it to a Table in OnModelCreating. But frankly, would adding it as a concrete type be such a problem?
