Using IP address instead of DNS Alias- event monitoring tool

We are configuring our Servers with IP address of the event monitoring tool we want the server to forward the event to.
I prefer using IP address as I am used to, but need a business reason on why we are not using DNS aliases instead of the IP address of the monitoring tool.
