“Freq. response should only be warped between $0$ and $pi$” $iff$ “full turn around the unit circle in...

Why is it equivalent to say: "freq. response should only be warped between $0$ and $pi$" $iff$ "full turn around the unit circle in $z$ equals full turn in $g(z)$"?

What does "warped" mean? That it's modified?

But doesn't "full turns around unit circle" being equivalent just mean that they measure the same units? That $1$ Hz in $z$ equals to $1$ Hz in $g(z)$?

And I guess this is in order to accurately make the new cutoff adjustment? Since if the "full turns" would change, then it'd mean that one'd force "truncation" of frequencies of some other sort?
