Virtual Hosts in Apache (Macbook)

0

Thanks in advance for your time and any help on this problem is appreciated.

My school assignment is to configure two local domains on my MacBook.

Where:

A) All data pertaining to the standalone website should be allocated to assignment.local

B) Whereas all app-specific commands should be placed in api.assignment.local

Now the programme we need to use to create our assignment is XampP.
Followed all the guidelines there are available online step by step even different videos with no progress.

First I enabled the Virtual Host, then tried to create the 2 custom Virtual Hosts and saving. Then editing my host file on terminal to complete and handle my Servername. However when I enter www.assignment.local.com int he google chrome url it only shows me 'Site cannot be reached" instead of the normal 403 error in order to proceed the steps accordingly.

What am I doing wrong? Any idea how to write a custom Virtual Host for the above stated assignment? (The path for the 2 files were created on desktop for easy use, so the path is /Users/myname/Desktop/assignment.local) or is there a better path (to save the files in)

The blue highlighted word (XampP) above directs you to the screenshot of my custom Virtual Host.

My Apache knowledge is beginner level so any help would be greatly appreciated.
