How to get OAuth token from a SAML assertion to a universal link?

We're trying to build an app which will be invoked by another app that is using SAML for SSO (I'm guessing they have a web app, which allows them to use SAML). Now we have a native app and we would like to generate an OAuth token to make API calls. This original app wants to redirect to our app using a URL (so I suggested using universal links). But they want our app to somehow get the authentication from the URL they hit with SAML assertion and generate the OAuth token. Now I understand what I've described here might be a bit vague but this is the best way in which I can describe this.
Also I'm new to the SAML world so if the language I used isn't correct, please pardon me.

I had a similar question and never got an answer stackoverflow.com/q/46176411/1433612 but since then I realised that passing an access token from one app to another is NOT the way to go. Look intoASWebAuthenticationSession
or github.com/openid/AppAuth-iOS That might be what you need.
