How to detect all gaps of two elements (left, between, right)?

0

I have two divs that move horizontal. Both depend from each other and keep always the same distance. If the left one goes to right, the left one does the same. If the left div goes to left, the right one follows. (the left div is the leading one)

Now I need to detect the following gaps:
- left of the left div
- the middle of both divs
- right of the right div

All solutions that I have tryed, had overlapping areas of results. Does anybody has had the some problem and found a solution?
